What to do first

We advise you to not make final funeral arrangements until you are sure that the death does not have to be reported to the Coroner.Since this may affect the date when the funeral can be held. Find out if there is a Will or pre-paid funeral plan, since this may give requests and funding for the funeral arrangements.

If you are to arrange for the funeral, you are responsible for paying the bill so first check where the money will come from and if there is enough.Ther may be benefits you are entitled to that can assist you with the funeral costs.(refer to our information on benefits within the Paying for the funeral section.)
