We at the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel understand that deciding on where to retire to, following a funeral is always a difficult decision to make. Our award-winning South Wales hotel offers relaxation and a high level of personal service and attention, all in a rural location in the lovely county of Monmouthshire overlooking the banks of the River Usk.

We are ideally located close to Meadow Natural Burial Ground, Usk Castle Chase’s tranquillity is typical of the surrounding Monmouthshire countryside. Unhurried, tranquil and private, it offers something gentler. A place of escape, away from it all. We are also within easy reach of lots of local churches and Gwent Crematorium.

We aim to meet individual requirements with a selection of venue rooms to choose from – the Library and Clarkes Dining Room for smaller gatherings and the Ballroom catering for larger gatherings with ample space for visitors to move around freely among family and friends.

We will provide floral table arrangements in the venue room you choose, for which no extra charge is made. The reception areas leading into the ballroom provide adequate space and facilities for friends and acquaintances to gather while they wait for family members following a funeral service.

The hotel car park accommodates 100 vehicles from where easy access to the main building is available via the front steps and a ramp.

We also have 27 ensuite guest bedrooms all individually furnished and equipped with flat screen televisions / DVD players and tea and coffee making facilities. Furnished to a high standard, every guest bedroom room is fully en-suite and equipped with with trouser press, flat-screen television/ DVD player, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities and most have views of the hotel’s spacious gardens.

We have a selection of sample menus readily available which include home-made and locally sourced ingredients. However, should you prefer a more bespoke option we would be more than happy to discuss this with you further. Our Head Chef is always willing to accommodate your party’s requirements and is extremely flexible in her provision. This enables our party organisers to provide a menu that meets the needs of all their guests.
